BEAUTY FAVOURITES: TOP 5 FOUNDATIONS

Matte or dewy? Full coverage or light coverage? High-street or high-end? Choosing the best foundation for your skin can be tricky, add to this the never-ending foundations out there on the market and its a minefield. Finding the ideal foundation isn’t a walk in the park and can seem an impossible task, but after your epic search when you do find the perfect fit its a game-changer.

Foundation can arguably be one of the most important steps in your makeup routine as it acts as a canvas for the rest of your makeup; it evens out your skin tone, covers any imperfections and creates a flawless finish. Before you start shopping for your ideal foundation, consider what your priorities are. For me, I have oily skin and am acne-prone so I have a drawer full of foundations depending on my current needs. Find a list of my current favourite foundations below…

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Foundation Stick – £42
Foundation sticks were a game-changer for me, this one in particular. If you want the seamless look and feel of a liquid foundation which you can build from medium to full coverage and also use as a concealer, then this foundation is for you. You can use it on-the-go and it has a weightless feel on the skin, as well as a velvety finish thats hard to beat.
NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation – £35
Not only does this product have a pretty decent shade range, but this long-lasting formula with a semi-matte finish makes a little go a long way. This foundation from NARS was very hyped and for good reason, it gives me a flawless complexion which is great for days when I have a little more texture. I don’t get that unwanted oily shine halfway through the working day, and it does last a long time.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation – £27
The makeup Gods blessed us with Fenty Beauty in 2017, and the world hasn’t been the same since. Badgalriri really blew us away with her line, and with 50 shades of foundation I had to get my hands on it. This is a full coverage foundation and beauty aficionados are nicknaming it “Rihanna’s skin in a bottle”, it has a definite velvet matte finish and you do look airbrushed when you wear it. Be warned, it does tend too oxidise a little so maybe go for a shade lighter to be on the safe side. For my oily-prone skin, this foundation works a dream.
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation – £42
If you’re a makeup junkie then you’ve definitely heard of this foundation, loved by the celeb elite (aka the Kardashians and Hadid’s) this silky smooth finish makes you look like you’re glowing from within. Beauty lovers with both fair and darker complexions are a fan of this one, and if you aren’t put off by the price tag its definitely a winner. Sometimes when I need a little more coverage I mix this with one of my other more matte foundations, but when my skin is behaving itself I wear this alone and I wear it proud.
Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation – £7
If there was ever proof that you don’t need to spend a ton of money on a foundation to get a decent makeup base, then this is it. This purse-friendly foundation is on par with its more expensive rivals and thats why its made my list. Its great for oily skin yet doesn’t feel cakey when you wear it, and has incredible coverage. Win win.
