CURATED EAR INSPO

When it comes to piercing of the ears, my motto has always been something along the lines of ‘more is more’. Multiple ear piercings make a strong statement, and are way less of a commitment than getting inked. ‘The curated ear’ is a trend that sees numerous ear piercings in unusual and delicate places, and has become the accessory du jour – all the bling that you used to stack elsewhere has slowly made its way up to the earlobes and I’m all the way here for it.

If you’ve scrolled through Insta in the last couple of months (which you most definitely have) than you’re well aware the insta-worthy curation of studs, jewels, and hoops are having a moment. Typically women in their 20’s and 30’s are adorning their ears with beautiful jewellery and the best part of it all is its completely individual, the way you fashion and style your ear is entirely up to you. Intricately pierced ears are a low effort alternative to tattoos, they can be worn everyday and are a great option for those wary of the permanence a tattoo has.

An early adapter of the curated ear trend was Maria Tash, piercer to the stars and an American jeweller who has locations in Liberty London and Harrods as well as many studios outside of the UK. But be warned, her jewellery does not come cheap. Prices can range from £50 to over £5,000, her lustworthy jewellery is an investment and you can quickly rack up a costly bill. Astrid & Miyu are another great choice for Londoners who want to achieve a curated ear at a lower cost, they market themselves as the UK’s ‘most Instagrammable piercing studio’. These days no-one really has a single ear piercing anymore, if there’s a part of the ear to be pierced then its gonna be pierced.

I’ve been getting my ears pierced long before I was probably allowed, and have a total of 11 ear piercings altogether. After scrolling for months on end drooling at the beautifully curated ears I’ve seen on my Instagram feed, I know at some point in the near future I’ll definitely be upping my ear blingage and going full-on curated ear – this is a trend that shows no signs of slowing down and I can get on board with that.
