Most of these skincare purchases were based on what I’ve seen on Instagram or beauty guru videos I’ve watched on YouTube, and when I visited New York a lot of these products weren’t yet available in the UK but most of them are now – hooray! These products give me top shelf envy, they are the items I see time and time again in bathroom cabinets full of lotions & potions, masks, serums, and so much more. As a self-declared beauty-obsessive, heres what I think of the products I purchased in my American skincare haul…
CeraVe, Foaming Facial Cleanser – for normal to oily skin, this purifying cleanser gently refreshes and helps to calm the skin. It’s also non-comedogenic so it won’t clog your pores! Containing 3 essential ceramides and hyaluronic acid, this is the cleanser I reach for when all else fails as I know its got my back. I use it once, if not twice a day and as its purse-friendly its hard to be let down by this product. And for all UK fans, you can now buy CeraVe in Boots & Superdrug and online at LookFantastic.
CeraVe, Daily Moisturising Lotion – for normal to dry skin, this is a lightweight moisturising lotion that helps to protect the skins natural barrier. I find that when I wear this my skin does feel hydrated all-day, but as its so lightweight I feel this is more a summer moisturiser over a winter one. One thing I think that would make this product more appealing is if it had SPF in, you can never get enough sun protection!
Tatcha, The Essence – now with this product I can’t necessarily say I’ve seen a change or improvement with regards to my skin, but when using it it feels so luxurious I can’t stop! It claims to be a plumping skin softener with incredible anti-aging benefits that’ll leave your skin feeling soft and glowy. Tatcha’s The Essence was created to maximise the benefits of any skincare that follows, and I use every other day after cleansing/toning by pressing 2-3 drops gently onto my skin.
Sanitas, Brightening Peel Pads – these pads are a professional strength at-home treatment that utilise a triple acid blend to brighten, tone and reveal clearer smoother skin. They contain glycolic acid which is a natural exfoliator that helps to brighten and stimulate skin renewal, lactic acid which helps to improve skin tone and texture, as well as salicylic acid stimulates skin renewal and helps unclog pores. I use this in place of a toner a couple of times a week & allow it to completely dry before adding any serums or moisturisers. After using these consistently for a while I found that my skin was lot brighter and smoother, they are pricy but totally worth it!
Renée Rouleau, Anti Bump Treatment – I don’t know what I did about my painful cystic acne before I discovered this miracle product. Recently I’ve noticed a lot of professional aestheticians are prescribing Renée Rouleau products to their clients, and for good reason. The Anti Cyst Treatment quickly and visibly reduces the inflammation of cysts and bumps, and works particularly well for me along the jawline. When I have cystic acne I apply twice daily until the bump disappears, and I’ve noticed that its discouraged bumps re-appearing on areas where I’ve previously used it – win win!
Sephora, Sheet Masks – you can’t go wrong with a sheet mask, and Sephoras own-brand products are great for the price. They hydrate and calm the skin for a brighter glowing complexion, and are budget-friendly. If you pop in to a Sephora, be sure to stock up on these bad boys.
Biore, Deep Cleansing Pore Strips – I’ve found these strips to be the most effective way to get rid of those pesky blackheads on my nose! You apply a strip onto your nose when wet then take off 10-15minutes later, and it gets rid of all the dirt/build-up that typically causes blackheads. Regular use of these pore strips can also help to reduce the appearance of pores, and even more good news is that they are now available to buy in Boots, Superdrug, and even some supermarkets.
Kopari, Coconut Melt – Kopari is a brand that champions sustainable beauty, and the products they offer are mostly vegan & sulphate/silicone/paraben/cruelty free. I love their 100% organic and unrefined coconut oil which is an incredible multitasking product; you can use it as an all-over body moisturiser, hair mask, makeup remover, bath boost, and dry shave oil. It contains Vitamin E and proteins to moisturise and protect the skin, I don’t use it everyday but I always reach for it when I’m feeling extra dry usually in the winter time.
Kopari, Coconut Body Glow – what better way to fake a summer glow then to use a product with natural pearlescent minerals that illuminate your face/body, and wherever you desire. Its lightweight and absorbs fast so you dont have to worry about it getting all over your clothes, and it hydrates and nourishes your skin helping you to feel extra silk and smooth.
Kopari, Coconut Lip Glossy – you can never have enough hydrating non-sticky lip balms on hand, and this one from Kopari has a subtle hint of colour and the perfect amount of shine. Shea butter and coconut oil help to reduce chapped lips, I like to keep this little number in my bag at all times.
