I love makeup. I don’t wear it as often as I’d like to these days, but I love the transformative properties it has and the endless possibilities it creates. You don’t have to be a beauty guru to appreciate a good beauty find, and below I’ve listed my top picks for 2018. As a beauty obsessive it was really hard for me to narrow this list down, but I did my best and only included one product from each category. So here’s a toast to my best of beauty 2018!
Eyeshadow palette, Colourpop x Shayla Perception Eyeshadow Palette: This palette has everything you need and more. It has shades for all occasions, from your more subtle daytime looks to dramatic nighttime glam. This palette features matte and metallic a range of textures in really rich pigmented shades – its a winner.
Blush, Glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk: I’m always searching for products to make my makeup routine that little bit easier, and my makeup look that bit more effortless. Glossier’s Cloud Paint is incredibly user-friendly and leaves me looking slightly flushed which I love.
Lipgloss, Intense Butter Gloss in Peanut Brittle: This gloss has got to be one of my absolute favourites! The rich colour and super smooth texture delivers incredible colour payoff, and is a colour that’s great on all skin tones. I always get compliments when I wear this particular shade.
Concealer, NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer in Ginger: I love the buildable coverage of this concealer, no matter how much I put on it never looks caked and feels light and comfortable when wearing it all day. This smooths out any imperfections I may have and is very long-wearing, what more can you ask?
Mascara, L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise: It’s safe to say I’m addicted to my lash extensions, I wouldn’t trade them for anything. But when I do wear mascara, I always reach for this one. I picked it up when I visited NYC last year and I wouldn’t be without it. This gives me really good volumed without looking clumpy, and infused with lash-loving castor oil it doesn’t flake.
Eyebrow pencil, Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer in Soft Brown: Everyone who’s into eyebrows guaranteed has something from Anastasia Beverly Hills in their makeup bag. The pointed tip of the Brow Definer allows for nice neat strokes while the thickness allows you to fill your eyebrows in whilst still looking natural, make sure you brush through after to avoid any harsh-looking lines.
Primer, Rimmel London Fix & Perfect Pro Makeup Primer: I don’t know what I did before I had a face primer in my makeup routine, and I dread to think what I looked like! This one is a super affordable drugstore primer, glides on the skin smoothly and feels nice and cool when doing so. It eliminates shine (which a lot of us suffer from), and protects from environmental aggressors.
Bronzer, MILK Makeup Matte Bronzer: Since I purchased my MILK Makeup Matte Bronzer, I’ve barely touched all of the other bronzers I own. Using this product is super easy and it comes in a really compact stick form, making it easy to fit in your handbag. This vegan product contains mango butter and avocado oil for extra hydration, which creates the perfect natural looking matte finish. Love!
Highlighter, Anastasia Beverly Hills AmRezy Highlighter: Who better to collab on a highlighter with than a beauty influencer who glows to the high heavens? Amrezy and Anastasia Beverly Hills teamed up to create this illuminating powder which achieves the perfect glow, and they did not disappoint. Nicknamed “sun in a compact’ by Amrezy, this ultra-smooth formula leaves me looking at my reflection all day long.
Setting powder, Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder in 2 Medium: I’ve never experienced a setting powder with such a silky-smooth finish, the nano-particles in this beauty gem make it ideal for bringing out-and-about with you to touch up on-the-go. I always see the difference when I use this product over others, my skin always looks so flawless and smooth. Ordering my back-up now!
Setting spray, MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime Fix+: I love it so much I bought it in all three variations, its safe to say I’m addicted to MAC’s Fix+. This lightweight water mist soothes the skin and is great for a mid-afternoon refresh or even to set your makeup, an added bonus (and industry secret) is that you can spray it on your eyeshadow brush with eyeshadow on to make the colour pop that little bit more. Infused with vitamins and minerals, it delivers a soft sheen and the new fragranced variations are amazing!
Foundation, NARS Natural Radiant Longer Foundation in Barcelona: Where would I be without this foundation? I think it’s one that changed the rulebooks in 2018, and one that’s going to stay in my makeup bag for the foreseeable future for sure. This uniquely lightweight formula really does give you a radiant ‘lit-from-within’ finish, the longevity of this product in addition to the superb coverage means it’s here to stay.
I’d love to know what your favourite products of 2018 were, and what did you think of mine? I’m always on the lookout for new things to try and experiment with so let me know!
