One of my favourite (and more unusual) afternoon tea spots in London is Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium in Bethnal Green. If you don’t love cats (and why wouldn’t you) then this spots not for you, but luckily I do! Resident rescue cats wander around this two-storey cafe spot that’s lined with comfy sofas and shelves full of books, and the afternoon tea is one of the best I’ve had the pleasure of having in London.
I’ve been to Lady Dinah’s twice in my lifetime, each time my mum took me as a treat (she knows me too well). This year we went for my birthday, and it was just as good as it was the first time around. Founded in 2014 this cat cafe is the longest running in the UK, and you can enjoy a wonderful High Tea in their Wonderland-themed rooms.
As a proud owner of two rescue cats and someone who heavily believes in #AdoptDontShop – having tea amongst some furry feline friends is a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of London life. All of the famous feline residents at Lady Dinah’s have been rescued from shelters or households where they didn’t quite fit, and have found a home (for now) at this cat cafe. Some of the previous residents have even gone on to be adopted, is there a better way to look after our feline partners-in-crime? The welfare of the cats is put first and foremost at this cat cafe, and thats exactly how it should be.
All of the food served in High Tea is sourced locally, and its 10x better than some afternoon teas I’ve been to that cost twice the price! I’m a big believer in supporting small independent businesses, especially ones that are for a good cause like this. If you’re a cat lover like myself, I suggest a trip to Lady Dinah’s ASAP.
