The “babushka” headwear look is making somewhat of a comeback. With everyone from A$AP Rocky to Frank Ocean donning this choice of headwear, and runway shows such as Vetements and Gucci sporting this look over the past few seasons, tying a silk scarf under your chin à la Grace Kelly is fashions new statement thing. I for one am glad statement-making silk scarves are making a return, albeit in new and interesting ways.

Chloë Sevigny and Kendall Jenner have been spotted out-and-about with silk scarves wrapped very fashionably around their heads recently, and if you were to Google ‘Russian Fashion Week street style’ you’ll see plenty of young women sporting silk scarves as headwear in the streets of Moscow. Though this may seem like a new fashion phenomenon, Russians have been wearing silk headscarves long before we ever saw it appear on runways around the world. Tying a silk scarf and making it look as chic as the Russians do is an art form, one I hope will stand the test of time. What a nice way to bring something traditional into modern times!
